COGNIZABLE CASE

Cognizable offence: Abetment of a cognizable offence is also cognizable (DB) PLD 1956 BJ 13 Crown v. Faiz Bakhsh.
Non-cognizable offence: A police officer is not prohibited. from presenting a complaint to a Court of non-cognizable offence. (DB) AIR 1925 Lah. 237 Emperor v. Ghulam Hussain.
Non-cognizable case. A Magistrate has no jurisdiction to take cognizance of a case on a report submitted by police in non-cognizable offence. 1969 P.Cr.LJ 589 Haider etc. 1968 P.Cr.LJ 97; 1971 P.Cr.LJ 151.
